Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Soqma – Rayan

Ancascocha Trek 5 Days.- At the scheduled time we will pick you up from your hotel, then drive in the Sacred Valley for 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach the town of Soqma (3,205 m / 10,512 ft). This is the starting point for the walk from Ancascocha to Machu Picchu, the riders will be waiting for us in this village ready for this adventure trek.

We will take a light walk towards one of the lateral valleys, covering about 1 hour and a half of trek, we will stop in the waterfall of Perolniyoc, considered one of the best waterfalls in the Sacred Valley.

We will continue walking an hour to get to the archaeological site of Perolniyoc, located on the waterfall, after listening with the explanation of Inca history with our guide, we will continue walking for an hour to reach our lunch place and camp.

On this day of the walk to Ancascocha we will acclimate to the high altitude, so after lunch we can relax and rest for the next day; We spend the night at Rayan camping (3,700 meters).

Day 2Rayan – Ancascocha

Ancascocha Trek 5 Days.- After breakfast we will leave the campsite, we will take a light walk for 3 hours to reach the highest point of our second day of walking called “Puka kasa” (4.450 m / 14.596 ft), for many people this is the most difficult section but also Is the place with the most spectacular views, we will appreciate some of the most impressive snow covered mountains and also the Sacred Valley. When we get to the top of the mountain you will feel proud of yourself surviving one of the highest steps in this mountain range. After enjoying all these wonderful and picturesque views, it is time to go down to the “Chancachuco” site, it will take us an hour and a half to get to lunch.

As we go to the village of Ancascocha we will appreciate some snowy peaks in front of us, La Montaña Veronica (5,950 m) will accompany us for many hours, then we will arrive to the Ancascocha Valley, where we will meet the village. Then we crossed the stream and climbed an uphill for another 2 hours to reach our camp around Lake Ancascocha (4,090 m.), The coldest night for the whole trip.

Day 3Ancascocha Pass – Huayanay – Qesqua Community

After a nutritious breakfast, we will continue our walk from Ancascocha to Machu Picchu; We will hike for 2 hours until reaching the highest point of Ancascocha Trek to Machu Picchu called “Paso Huayanay” (4,650 m), we can enjoy some breathtaking views.

The Incas built the Inca Trail in an impressive way. After enjoying these breathtaking views from the promenade, we will walk to the valley until arriving at “Incaraqay” where a nutritious lunch awaits us. If we are lucky we will see the condors flying around the Huayanay pass.

From here we will descend for 3 hours in the middle of green vegetation. During this part of the trek we will have views of the classic Inca trail to Machu Picchu that will appear in the distance, and fascinating views of the communities of the valley of Qésqua.

Day 4Qesqua – Paucarcancha – Kilometer 82 – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Ancascocha Trek 5 Days.- This day begins with a delicious breakfast. Continue down the valley for approximately 2 hours until you reach “Paucar Cancha”, which is an extraordinary Inca fortress. You will learn the Inca history about this beautiful site and then you will have free time to explore on your own.

After visiting Paucar Cancha, we will start the final trek for 4 hours until we reach Km 82, this last part of our trek going in the initial section of the Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, along the way to km 82. In Inca ruin of Willcaraqay from here it is possible to observe Patallaqta another remarkable Inca ruin. At km 82, our chef will be waiting for you with a delicious lunch.

After enjoying a delicious lunch we will transfer to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m) from where we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 5Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will board the bus after breakfast to go to the citadel of “Machu Picchu”. As part of our itinerary the same professional guide of the walk of Ancascocha; It will teach you the whole history of this mysterious and mystical place.

We will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Palace, the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Dial of the Sun. It will be an unforgettable experience. After the visit to the archaeological center, you will have some time to explore the site.

If you have paid to visit the mountain of “Wayna Picchu”, you will have to coordinate with your guide to visit Machu Picchu depending on your scheduled time for the mountain

Visit «Sun Gate» You will have the opportunity to walk (approximately 2 hours up and down) to Puerta del Sol (Inti Punku) to see Machu Picchu from a different angle.

Hike to the Inca Bridge:

The Inca Bridge offers a dose of adventure for your next visit to Machu Picchu. However, in this case, the adventure is a little less strenuous, but death much more challenging, not for people with vertigo.

Train back to Cusco: In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes train station to return to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival at the train station, you will be transferred by car to your hotel in Cusco.
