AGE REQUIREMENTS – apply only to TREKS

We do not accept bookings for tours of Walks for children under 8 and adults over 68. All children under the age of 18 must also be accompanied by an adult. We recommend that if you are over 60 years of age you should talk to your doctor well in advance about the best way to plan the walk and also to make sure your travel insurance covers such adventure activities.

We also insist that customers over 60 arrive in Cusco at least 3 days before starting the walk (instead of the usual 2 days). For walkers over 63 years of age we also ask you to bring a letter from your doctor confirming that you are able to participate in the walk. Unfortunately, if you do not bring a letter from your doctor, we reserve the right to cancel your trip and your travel deposit can not be returned

MEDICAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Travelers with heart conditions, knee problems, severe asthma or with more than 18 weeks of pregnancy should not participate in the walks. People with mild asthma / diabetes / pregnant women under 18 weeks will have to bring a medical letter from their doctor stating that they are able to travel. They will also be asked to be accompanied at all times by a walking companion who will be by their side and who will be familiar with the necessary medications in case of emergency.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend that you take out your own travel insurance, including repatriation services before booking one of our trips or excursions. Please see our cancellation policies above. If you can not travel and have travel insurance, these deposits must be covered. Passengers are responsible for making sure that their medical or travel insurance policy covers the activity in which they are participating. Please note that the non-refundable deposit must be able to be recovered through a travel insurance claim in case of accident or illness. The repatriation insurance will ensure that you can fly home in case you need emergency medical treatment in your country of origin and can provide you with a doctor for the flight or the required medical equipment. For more information about travel insurance (and how it differs from medical insurance), see our FAQ page.

EXCHANGE RATE.

We review our trek prices quarterly if there is a substantial change. Although our trekking prices are listed in US dollars to facilitate payment by credit card and Paypal, most of our expenses are in Peruvian soles (trekking permits, salaries, food, taxes). Assume any changes in costs to USD 15 due to a variation in the exchange rate based on the official exchange rate in Peru can be found at www.sunat.gob.pe however, you will be asked to pay a customer surcharge based on a further increase in the price. Exchange rates can go up and down, so if the value of the US dollar increases against the Peruvian sun, we will reimburse you the corresponding amount using the same starting point of USD 15. We will show the calculations to clearly explain the difference in cost when applicable.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL – if you rent equipment from us, you are responsible for this equipment throughout the tour and you agree to pay the repair / replacement costs if it is broken or lost.
