The travelers who plan the excursions to Machu Picchu Peru are on an amazing trip. Visitors experience starry nights, therapeutic thermal waters and high mountain peaks. A tour that combines Peruvian culture with a hike along the Inca Trail starts in Cusco and ends with a visit to Machu Picchu. Anyone interested in ancient civilizations, nature, the environment, archeology and anthropology will enjoy this journey.
Our Inca Trail 2D Lares with Hotel (5D / 4N) starts in Cusco and the adventure begins. A three-hour panoramic tour of the Sacred Valley and the Andes ends in the thermal waters of Lares. After your delicious breakfast, immerse yourself in pure volcanic water and feel how stress dissipates.
Relaxed, you will head to the next stop: Punta Carretera for a hike to Kiswarani. Enjoy the views of the working potato farms and enjoy a hearty lunch. After lunch, enjoy a lesson on the importance of llamas and why they were considered sacred to the Incas. These cute animals will impress you with their strength and beauty.
Finally, day 1 ends with a hike to your campsite at night. There, your store will be ready and a fantastic meal will be served. Close the day contemplating the magic stars in the night sky.
Bright and early, the second day will begin its ascent to the top of the Condor Pass. A four-hour walk includes views of beautiful lakes, waterfalls and wildlife. On the way down the mountain, the old town of Cancha Cancha welcomes you. Here people continue to practice the true traditions of the Incas and the town has no electricity or cars. Spend the day learning about the Inca lifestyle in the homes of a local family. As a witness to the story, you will learn how the current life of this town reflects that of the ancient Incas.
Day 3 is the final leg of your trip to Lares. Enjoy breakfast and a final exploration of Cancha Cancha. Walking downhill, you will see farms that grow traditional Inca food such as potatoes, beans and tubers. As the day progresses, you will notice that the temperature increases as you descend from the mountain. As the weather changes, so do the crops. Corn, quinoa, kiwi, peaches and avocados are grown at lower altitudes.
The walk ends in the town of Huaran, where you will board a truck to Maras. This city has saline salineras. The salt here has been used since ancient times and is said to have healing properties. Enjoy watching this process and then we will go to the hotel in Ollantaytambo for a well-deserved rest.
A train ride early in the morning takes you to the Inca Trail. A spectacular landscape greets you every step of the way. Equipped with lunch and drinks, you will start the walk. Walking to the Classic Inca Trail, you will observe breathtaking views of Machu Picchu and the mighty Urubanba River. Three hours later, you will arrive at the impressive Inca site: Winay Wayna (Forever Young). Marvel at an elaborate water source, temples and Inca agricultural terraces. Next, Puerta del Sol welcomes you as we begin our descent to Machu Picchu. Arriving at Machu Picchu in the afternoon, after much of the crowd has gone home, is a real advantage. End the day with a bus trip to Aguas Calientes to your hotel.
Your last day begins with the sunrise at Machu Picchu. After a full two-hour tour, you will have enough time to explore on your own. A supplement available is a ticket to climb Huayna Picchu, so ask for more information about that exciting option. Enjoy lunch on your own in Aguas Calientes and take the train to start your trip back to Cusco.
