Itinerary

Day 1CITY TOUR (CATHEDRAL, QORICANCHA, SACSAYHUMAN, QENQO, PUCA PUCARA, TAMBOMACHAY).

Start: 1pm.
Finish: 6:30pm

Beginning the tour in the historical center of the city visit to the Cathedral of Cusco, built between 1556 and 1654, its altarpieces are splendid, its pulpit is carved wood, from the end of the s. XVII, and the masonry of the choir is superb. Also highlights his collection of paintings from the Cuzco school. It has one of the richest jewellery treasures of colonial art. Later you will visit to the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, this set was dedicated to the religious worldview of the Andean world. Then you will go to Sacsayhuamán, an imposing example of Inca architecture 2 km north of the city center, famous throughout the world for the enormous carved rocks, united with astonishing precision. Then visit Qenko which is an outcrop of limestone rock on which have been carved intricate mythical representations, then visit Puca Pucará, served as a checkpoint of the Inca Trail. Finally you will visit Tambomachay to 7 km of the Cusco, popularly known as the baths of the Inca, important center of cult and water worship.

Day 2Cusco – Ollantaytabo – Km 104 Chachabamba – Wiñayhuayna – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes.

Explorer 5 days 4 nights.- Pick up from your hotels at 4:00 am to transfer you for a 2-hour trip, with private transportation to the train station in Ollantaytambo.

We will board the Expedition Train; we will travel by train for an hour and 45 minutes to Km 104 (Start of our trek.) (It is worth the effort to get up early and go with this train, which allows us to enter and start our trek early, if we wait for the In the Km 104 after presenting passports in the control, we began to trek gently to about a few kilometers of the city of Ollantaytambo, Meters from the Vilcanota River.

On the way, we will see the ruins of Chachabamba, an in-situ stone altar that served to worship the sun and the mountains, still venerated by local people. After visiting Chachabamba, we will continue the trail towards the south and begin a gradual climb to the mountain, before entering a forest of clouds and with a lot of vegetation, soon the trail leaves to the forest and goes towards the west, while we continue uphill in an open meadow. After walking for 3 hours, the path descends into an amazing forest. Here we will find a beautiful waterfall, and then we will reach the bottom of the Wiñaywayna ruins.

We will appreciate the beauty of this site, complemented by the information of our expert guide. After lunch in Wiñaywayna, we will continue in the evening in the cloud forest, full of bromeliads, orchids, and fern trees.

As we walk this last part of the way, we will go through many impressive features like stone stairs and tambos (“resting places”). You will climb 60 stairs before arriving at Inti Punku (“the door of the sun”). From this point, you can contemplate and observe this wonderful place. Then we will descend for 45 minutes until we reach the part of the famous viewpoint, from here you can observe the sunset. We will descend to the entrance of Machupicchu where we will board the bus to Aguas Calientes. Dinner included rest, plans and arrangements for tomorrow. The thermal baths are a good option (bring your swimsuit and 10 soles).

Day 3Machupicchu Citadel

Explorer 5 days 4 nights.- Start 7:00 am approximate.

Finish: 10:00pm approximately.

According to the coordination’s made with your guide the night before you must board the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, once in the Sanctuary the guide will explain the meaning and history of each of the places of this Inca complex for around 2 Hour and a half, after your guided tour you will have free time to trek on your own and take photos in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

After finishing our magisterial visit, we can return to Aguas Calientes town and look for a delicious lunch. Then we will have some free time to tour this picturesque village before boarding our train back to Cusco.

The train leaves Aguas Calientes in the afternoon at 18:20. (In high season train times may vary.) And arrive in Ollantaytambo train station at 20:20, and then transfer for 1.30 hrs To Cusco.

Day 4Rainbow Mountain

Explorer 5 days 4 nights.- We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 03:40 am and 04:00 am to go by minivan to Checacupe to the southern valley of Cusco, following to the town of Pitumarka (3800 m.a.s.l.) where we will stop for shopping. We will continue by bus to an annex of Japura (breakfast) and then to kairawiri where we will start our walk at 4550 m.a.s.l. where we will have our breakfast. Along the way we enjoy fantastic views of the Apu Ausangate (6384 m.a.s.l.) passing through impressive landscapes and small lagoons of height. Until we reach the foot of the hill Vinicunca where we will need 400 meters to reach the highest point at 5200 m.a.s.l. (walking time 2:30 hours). After taking our photos we will return by the same road, where we will have a comforting lunch and our bus to return to Cusco.

Day 5

At the agreed time, transfer from your hotel to the airport.
