Itinerary

Day 1CITY TOUR (CATEDRAL, QORICANCHA, SACSAYHUMAN, QENQO, PUCA PUCARA, TAMBOMACHAY).

13:00 Pick up from your hotel; beginning the tour in the historical center of the city visit to the Cathedral of Cusco, built between 1556 and 1654, its altarpieces are splendid, its pulpit is carved wood, from the end of the s. XVII, the masonry of the choir is impressive. Also highlights its collection of paintings from the Cuzco school. It has one of the richest jewelry treasures of colonial art. Later you will visit to the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha; this set was dedicated to the religious worldview of the Andean world.Next, we will go to Sacsayhuaman, a demonstration of Inca architecture located outside the city of Cusco, is famous throughout the world for its huge hand-carved rocks, united with astonishing precision. Then visit Qenqo which is an outcrop of limestone rock on which have been carved intricate mythical representations, then visit Puca Pucará, served as a checkpoint of the Inca Trail. Finally you will visit Tambomachay to 7 km of the Cusco, popularly known as the baths of the Inca, important center of cult and water worship.

Day 2VALLE SAGRADO DE LOS INCAS/ PISAQ, URUBAMBA, OLLANTAYTAMBO – CONECCION AGUAS CALIENTES MACHUPICCH

Pick up from your hotel, in the morning around 8:00 am, first we go to the handicraft market of Pisaq, then we will ascend to the archeological complex of Pisaq from the top of the mountain you can appreciate the beauty of this valley To appreciate the architectural skills of the Incas.

We will then drive through the valley to the town of Urubamba where we will enjoy a buffet lunch, in the afternoon we will continue the trip until we stop to enjoy a buffet lunch, later we will continue the trip to the Inca city of Ollantaytambo that preserves its streets and Inca houses made of stone. We ascend to the top of the Inca grandstands of this wonderful archaeological complex of great importance for its natural beauty, and its strategic location, since from there you can appreciate the whole valley.

After visiting Ollantaytambo, we stayed at the train station to board your train to Aguas Calientes where our assistant will be waiting for you to accommodate At your hotel we will coordinate your next visit to Machu Picchu Park for the following day.

Day 3MACHUPICCHU ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE – CUSCO

Then with our next tour made with your guide the night before you must board the bus from Aguas Calientes to the citadel of Machu Picchu, once in the Sanctuary the guide will explain the meaning and history of each of the places of this Inca complex for around 2 Hour and a half, after your guided tour you will have free time to trek on your own and take photos in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Day 4CUSCO – MAZUCO – PUERTO MALDONADO

Early in the morning on 06:00am, we will pick you up from the hotel in our private transport to Puerto Maldonado City, located at 500 kilometers from Cusco. On the way we will be able to appreciate variety of flora and fauna, as well the Ausangate snowcapped (6377 masl), then continue to the Pirwuayani Pass (4725 masl), which is the highest point on the route, then the car will begin to descend towards the locality of Marcapata, where we will find thermal baths, if you want you will be able to enjoy a brief relaxation in this place. We will continue descending and we will be feeling the change from a cold climate to a warm climate. We will also be able to make stops in the different towns to know more about their customs and to take pictures with the natural landscape. We will have our lunch in a traditional restaurant in Mazuco and after a brief rest, continue to Puerto Maldonado City arriving at a 16:00 hrs approximately.

At agreed time one of our local guides will meet you in your hotel for the briefing, he will give you all the necessary information before the trip.

Day 5PUERTO MALDONADO – WALK – LAKE SANDOVAL – LODGE

At agreed time we will transfer you to our office located in downtown where you will be able to leave the baggage that you won’t need for the tour.

We will depart from the tourist stop or Puerto Capitania where a motorized boat will take us for 45 minutes downriver to the next port called Sandoval, the entrance to Lake Sandoval located inside the Tambopata National Reserve. To get to our destination of Sandoval Lake we will have to walk 3 kilometers. or in one hour (with mud in the wet season) to reach a small port where we will board a paddle canoe to reach a small port where we will board a paddle canoe. After about half an hour of rowing we will arrive to the Lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge we will be welcomed with a tasty tropical juice, we will be given a brief introduction to the lodge and then we can have a drink and rest in one of our comfortable rooms.

We will take a night walk with flashlights or headlamps through the forest in search of the night monkeys called Musmuqui, snakes, frogs and insects. that are active during the night. we will go to the lodge to enjoy dinner and then we will be able to rest.

Day 6LAKE SANDOVAL – BRAZIL NUT TRAIL – CAIMAN SEARCH NIGHT

In the early morning we will paddle around Sandoval Lake in a magnificent wooden canoe to look for the world’s largest otters in the river, These species are protected for being the most important of the lake and also considered an emblematic species. Giant otters are a territorial species that live in small family groups, feeding on fish that live in the lake. Your food can weigh up to 4 kilograms of fish per day.

We will head to the Lodger for a well-deserved breakfast and a short rest.

We will leave the lodge and we will go for a walk in the solid ground forest learning more about the medicinal plants and diurnal mammals such as monkeys, peccaries, wild birds such as macaws and toucans are also found wild cats, peccaries and birds such as toucans and macaws. During the tour we will learn about the ecology of the Brazil nut tree, which is considered an umbrella species and helps to protect the flora and fauna of the region.

We will return to the lodge to enjoy a midday meal and lunch and rest from the tour for lunch and siesta time.

In the afternoon we will return to Sandoval Lake to go around it by canoe, we will be looking for monkeys of different species, kingfishers, herons, shanshos and cormorants that They feed in the forest near the lake and also live in the forest. At dusk, on the walk back we will be able to appreciate the black eyes of the caimans that hunt at night on the shores of the lake with our flashlights. We will be able to approach them and tell them about their natural history and take pictures.

We will return to the lodge to enjoy an evening meal and rest from a magnificent day.

Day 7SANDOVAL LAKE – CLAY LICK PALMS –PLAIN FLOOD FOREST – TOWER

Early in the morning we will cross the Sandoval Lake and walk for 20 minutes to visit the Collpa palm trees. In this area there are different species of macaws and different colors, as well as parrots of different species meet to eat the dead wood of palm trees is quite good in salts and minerals with calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, sodium and aluminum proteins. The mineral supplement is very important in the diet of the birds, as it counteracts the bad effects of toxins by eating unripe or spoiled fruits. We will return to the lodge to recover our strength for breakfast and a short break from the trek.

We will head to the floodplain forest crossing Sandoval Lake by canoe. Our hike will last 2 hours, in the hike we will observe huge trees with more than 200 years old, which are Shihuahuaco or iron tree, lupuna or ceiba tree and oje (medicinal ficus); these trees only grow in these forests of the zone. We will return to the lodge to enjoy a midday meal and have a small party.

at sunset we will explore the lake by canoe, this time we will find a 12 meter high tower located at the edge of the tourist area.the tourist area is 2 kilometers and the refuge area is 1 kilometer. From the top of the tower we will be amazed by the view of the sunset. We will return to the lodge for dinner and rest for the night.

Day 8SANDOVAL LAKE – PUERTO MALDONADO – AIRPORT.

In the morning after a well-deserved breakfast we will leave the Tambopata National Reserve, traveling the same road from the entrance at the port of Sandoval on the Madre de Dios River, from where will be taking our boat to return to Puerto Maldonado. After packing your luggage, your guide will take you to the airport.
