Machu Picchu is often called the “Lost City of the Incas”. Located in the Peruvian region of Cusco, it is one of the most impressive ancient sites in the world. An icon of the Inca civilization, it is a popular stop on many excursions to Peru.

Built around 1450 AD, at the height of the Inca Empire, it was built as a farm for the Inca Emperor Pachacuti. However, the site was mysteriously abandoned approximately 100 years later. It was not rediscovered until the early 20th century, Machu Picchu soon became a popular tourist destination.

Then, on the second day, you will visit a weaving center and an alpaca farm. In addition, you will experience an intact Inca town in Ollantaytambo. There you can relax and enjoy a dinner of authentic Peruvian cuisine.

Day 3 begins with a look at the impressive salt mines of Salineras / Maras. The local economy is based on the salt obtained from thousands of salt pools that act as evaporation chambers. Later, the day continues with a tour of the Inca Archeological Center of Moray and Chincheros. You will learn about terraced cultivation techniques used by the Incas. In addition, you will see a colonial church and visit a textile center. Finally, the day concludes with a dinner and an impressive train trip to your hotel in Aguas Calientes, where you will prepare to visit Machu Picchu.

Wake up early the next day to see the sunrise and an incredible view of Machu Picchu. Our guides will provide an informative tour of 2 hours and then have time to explore on your own. Tickets are required to climb any of the mountains, so be sure to allow us to arrange them for you long before your trip. After exploring, you will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then a train ride back to Ollantaytambo.
